Go My Children with My Blessing

Go, my children, with my blessing, Never alone.

Waking, sleeping, I am with you; You are my own.

In my love's baptismal river

I have made you mine forever.

Go, my children, with my blessing - You are my own.

I the Lord will bless and keep you And give you peace;
I the Lord will smile upon you And give you peace;
I the Lord will be your Father,
Savior, Comforter, and Brother.
Go, my children; I will keep you And give you peace.

This hymn is a simple and beautiful benediction, a blessing. As we end this year, we share this blessing with you. We all are separating for the summer. After the summer, some are going on to high school, others moving on to other schools, and others returning to St. John. While we go our separate ways, we also go together as God’s children. We are connected through this common faith we share, a connection we will always have!

May God bless you this summer! May He keep you safe! May He give you time to relax, have fun, and connect as a family. May He provide you with opportunities to learn and grow. May He keep you connected to Him through worship, prayers, and devotions.

May the Lord bless and keep you and give you peace!

Congratulations, Mrs. Anglin

Yesterday, St. John Lutheran Church and School recognized Jody Anglin for 30 years of service. Jody has faithfully served countless children and families as preschool aide, lunchroom assistant, and extended care aide. Beyond those roles, Jody is always willing to jump in and help out wherever she is needed. We thank Jody for her faithfulness in this ministry and we thank God for Jody and wish her many blessings in the years ahead!

Field Day

Our Field Day activities will be incorporated into our last day of school plans. We will be walking to the park by the library to celebrate the

end of the year. Preschool students are invited to come with parents. We will have Field Day activities for all students in the morning. We will also enjoy a free lunch for everyone from the hot lunch ladies. There will also be time to relax, play, and enjoy friends before we break for the summer. Finally, we’ll end the day with a closing chapel service in the park starting at 2:00! Parents are welcome to join us for any part or the entire day! If you are interested in helping with the Field Day events please let the school office of your willingness to help. After we finish, we will return to school for dismissal. Students are encouraged to bring a disposable water bottle to use throughout the day. We will have jugs to refill bottles. Please ask your child for the permission slip with additional details sent home last Friday.

Final Days of School

Chapel Offerings

Last week we had a great response to the challenge of bringing in $2 each to buy a new book for Kate’s Kart and we almost doubled our offering collection for the entire trimester! We encourage all students to show their thankfulness to God by bringing in Chapel offering TOMORROW, our last regular chapel. on Tuesdays! Our 3rd Trimester offering project will be Kate’s Kart, a service that provides new books to hospitalized kids throughout Northeast Indiana.

End of the Year Reminders

Don’t forget all of these important end-of-the-year reminders:

  • Please return all library books or videos immediately.
  • Check the Lost and Found cabinet and/or tables. Unclaimed items will be given to Goodwill.
  • Pay your Extended Care and Hot Lunch Bills. All outstanding balances need to be paid by the last day of school. Paying these outstanding bills allows Mrs. Thiem to concentrate on other tasks this summer in preparation for next year.
  • If you intend to pay next year’s tuition in full or in two payments, your payment is due by June 1.
  • Please continue to save the following items over the summer:
    • Empty Ink jet cartridges
    • Box Tops for Education (We receive 10 cents for each Box Top submitted!)

Just a Reminder that June 1 is the deadline

for those paying either one-half of next year’s tuition,

or paying that balance in full.

Bus Next School Year?

Parents of students who ride an East Noble bus this school year have received a form to complete if they wish to continue riding this fall.  Please return that form IMMEDIATELY!  If you don’t receive a form, and hope to have your child ride, please contact Mr. Walz.

Thank you to everyone who helped support our 5th/6th grade trip to the Ark.  The 5th and 6th graders worked hard last Saturday and washed around 30 cars and each other! They raised over $500 for their trip.  Thanks to all who helped in any way!

Endowment Fund Challenge

Through the vision of Frank and Martha Johnson, and the generous support of many donors, the St. John Lutheran School Endowment continues to thrive. The balance in the endowment is over $750,000. This year the school will receive $35,478 from the endowment. Of that, $10,684 will be used to provide assistance for 7 children from 7 families. The rest will be used for general operating expenses.

Each year, The Lutheran Foundation encourages donations to our endowment fund by matching two dollars for every one dollar we receive. In order to reach the maximum match, we are in need of an additional $15,000 in donations to our endowment. The deadline to receive these donations is May 31 and donations can be sent to the school office or made online at www.stjohneagles.org (click on DONATE NOW). Will you help us conquer this challenge and reach our endowment goal?

The $coop on $crip

Remember that scrip will be available in the church or school office all summer!!  Don’t get out of the habit of buying with scrip in support of our school and your family’s tuition!  If you’ve never tried scrip, the less hectic days of summer might be a great chance to give it a try!  See Mrs. Thiem for details!

From 9 to 3 each day, there should always be someone in the office to help you with your needs.  You’re buying gas and groceries anyway.  Why not use Scrip and let area businesses help support our school!?

School Choice (Voucher) Students

Parents of students applying for a School Choice (voucher) Scholarship for the 2019-20 school year need to come in to the office to complete your application for next year. The process takes about 10 minutes with Mrs. Thiem. You will need a copy of your 2018 tax return, unless you receive other forms of public assistance.  We will have verification of that if you do.

Registration Timeline

Enrollment for the 2019-2020 school year for both our returning parents and for new parents is now open. You can re-enroll your child for the coming year by accessing the re-enrollment packet in ParentsWeb. Directions were sent home weeks ago in print form, but if you need another copy just ask in the office.

Tuition Assistance

St. John Lutheran School is a ministry of St. John Lutheran Church. As such, every child’s tuition is supported through the church. St. John does not want any child to miss out on the Lutheran education we provide because of family finances. We have several avenues of tuition assistance available to families in need. Families are asked to complete an application for tuition grant and aid. The only application available for this year is online and can be accessed at www.factstuitionaid.com. Please contact the school office with questions.

Help Promote St. John

This summer St. John Lutheran Church and School will participate in 2 community events:

  • Noble County Fair, Monday, July 15-Saturday, July 20
  • Kid City, Saturday, August 3, 10:00-3:00

We will have a booth at each event sharing information about our school and church. We would love to have help from our church and school families at these booths. If that sounds interesting to you, call the school office to be added to the list!

21st Century Scholar Program

Parents, especially of 7th and 8th graders, need to explore this state program that provides college funding for eligible Indiana students. Income eligibility requirements exist, but the application process and other requirements are fairly simple. Scholarships for both Indiana public and private colleges are available. Applications must be made during the student’s 7th or 8th grade year.  You can find all the details at www.in.gov/ssaci/2345.htm

Vacation Bible School!

Join us at St. John this summer as we blast off for an out-of-this-world adventure!  Children ages 3 through entering 6th grade will learn about God’s plan of salvation from creation to the cross.

We’ll enjoy Bible stories, game, snacks, arts and crafts, music, and more!
