Did You Know?

♥ there are 2 billion moms in the world

♥ the average mom takes 2 minutes, 5 seconds to change a diaper

♥ moms do 88% of the laundry

♥ moms spend more than 8,000 hours cooking over an 18 year period

♥ over 122 million calls are made to mom on Mother’s Day

♥ over 150 million cards are sent on Mother’s Day

♥25% of all the flowers bought for holidays are bought for Mother’s Day

This past weekend we celebrated moms. It is great that we do so in recognition for all our moms do for us. There’s the cooking, cleaning, driving, and washing that never seem to end. There’s also the loving, cuddling, caring, nurturing, comforting, and encouraging that moms do. And then there’s the crying, laughing, smiling, disciplining, praying, and worrying that moms take care of. Some estimates figure the value of what a mom does as over $100,000. But, we all know the real value is priceless! So, to all our moms, we say thank you and God bless you for all you do and how you do it!

Happy Mother’s Day

Seeking to reach all with Christ, St. John Lutheran School partners with families to provide a Christ-centered education which nurtures faith in Christ,

promotes discipleship, develops God-given abilities and skills,

and encourages academic excellence.

Athletic Notice for 2017 - 18

As we start to look towards the future, one piece of information that is needed is to get an idea of which students are interested in participating in sports for the 2017-2018 school year. All students in grades 5-8 can participate in Fall Boys Soccer, Fall Girls Volleyball, Winter Boys and Girls Basketball and Spring Track. 4th graders will be invited to participate IF there is room available on the teams. Please complete this survey as soon as possible, but by May 23 at the very latest. We appreciate your help in helping us plan for next year’s athletic program. ‘Tis May, the month of blooming things

Of budding trees, the bird that sings.

Our lawns will brighten with colorful cheer

To tell us all that summer’s near.

But some must live in a world that’s dark

Their colors are drab; no flowers, no park.

They yearn for something to brighten their day

So in their isolated darkness their world does not stay.

This month I am asking for anything bright

A pretty washcloth, a ball, or flashlight.

Send it in with a hope and a prayer

That some child will love it ----- somewhere.

The world that they live in is foreign to us

Anything we send them, they will make a fuss!

The smiles on their faces as they open with joy,

Their shoeboxes filled with our love and a toy.

Anything else that you think fits the bill

Can be placed in the collection box each month as well.

In the lobby you’ll find it upon the floor

Just lift its lid and fill it galore!!
