Geography Bee
Tuesday, January 24, 2012

On Tuesday, January 24, don’t miss our school’s Geography Bee where students in grades 4-8 will compete for the opportunity to represent our school in the national Geography Bee.  The Bee will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Worship Center.  Parents, please join us!

Book Fair Coming!

Our Book Fair will be held from Jan. 29 – Feb. 5. Please plan now to stop in and see all of the wonderful books available. The students will have time to look at the books during the day with their class. The teachers will also have wish lists available if you would like to purchase a book for their classroom library. This is a great opportunity to shop ahead for upcoming presents or just to give the gift of reading to your child and encourage this wonderful skill. If you would like to volunteer to help staff the Book Fair, please contact the office.

Science Fair Approaching!

Friday, February 10, is our annual Science Fair.  Projects will be due no later than 8:00 a.m. the previous day, Thursday, February 9. Students that are interested in doing a project should ask their teachers or the office for information.

We have ordered a supply of paper/foam boards which are great for science fair display boards.  The white boards will sell for $5.25 each.  The boards are 32” high and 36” wide and are available first come-first served.

Please send your order, along with payment, to the school office and we will send a board home with your child.  Please make checks payable to “St. John PTL”.  Questions about this year’s Fair should be directed to Science Fair Chairperson Mr. Albertin.

Game Night

Mark your calendar now for this year’s Game Night/Book Fair scheduled for Friday, Feb. 3, beginning at 6:30.  WE ARE SEEKING A CHAIRPERSON FOR THIS EVENT.  If you are interested, please speak with Mrs. Thiem about what is involved.  Prizes have already been secured.  Thanks to Peggy Schroeder for tackling that task!

Paper Towels!!

We have depleted our supply of paper towels donated by families to start the year.  If you forgot to send yours at that time, or would just be willing to donate additional rolls, please send those to school.  Your help is appreciated!!

Would you like free money? Do you shop at any of the following stores?

Walmart Kroger Dairy Queen  Dude’s
Shell Dietrich’s Shepherds Walgreens
CVS BP Home Depot Applebees

These are just a few of the retailers that we carry SCRIP cards for. When you purchase a SCRIP card a percentage of the face value is credited back to you. It really is that simple!

All you have to do is stop in the office any time or the gym on Friday at pick up time, purchase your SCRIP cards, and start saving money. The more you use SCRIP, the more you’ll save. Watch here for other easy ways to use this program!
